"The Day"-The Roots from their latest album "How I Got Over"

First off, I would just like to say that I am utterly in love with the music group called The Roots. Their latest album documents the beauty of the poetry in their album. Something you can feel, something you can relate to. Something you can feel. Not just a whole bunch of random crap being tossed into my ears.

There was this one song that hit me...and almost explained everything I was feeling:

[Chorus: Patty Cash]
When I wake up, I look into the mirror
I can see a clearer, vision
I should start living today
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day

[Blu]
Yeah, it’s like everyday I wake up, I stare into space and don’t say much
Peer in the mirror, feeling dead from the face up
Coffee pots, cigarettes, morning Js, Baileys
Slowing down my day before it picks up the pace
Beats playing since the night before, thinking bout writing songs
Feeling exhausted from times we toured constant
And plus the toxics I sip got me tall
Still tipsy, staring at the city from the spot we call Los Angeles
Every day is like a blank canvas
Carving my initials in the planet like I brand it
Hand picked to live this life we take for granted
Like a child with an upright bass, we can’t stand it
Smiling through the trouble we face, tryna manage
My way without pumping my brakes and staying stagnant
Cause I can sit on my ass or just imagine
The madness I did on my path and paint the canvas

[Chorus: Patty Cash]
When I wake up, I look into the mirror
I can see a clearer, vision
I should start living today
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day

[Black Thought]
Before I rise and shine like a neon sign
I need the girl of my dreams to give me Einstein
And burn the marijuan’ like Buju Banton
Is my only bonafide break from these confines
I need a change of scenery like a montage
These kids bringing me the noise like the bomb squad
And everybody coming at me from the blindside
I’m tired, it’s hard to open up my eyes wide
I listen to some theme music on the iPod
And walk around the crib doing little odd jobs
Checking my breath, take a view from this high rise
Feeling like I’m checking out a game from the sideline
I got to try different things in these trying times
Twenty-ten is different than it was in nine-five
It’s come alive time, I picked a fine time
For getting open off life like a fine wine

[Chorus: Patty Cash]
When I wake up, I look into the mirror
I can see a clearer, vision
I should start living today
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day

[Phonte]
Uh, yeah, Sunday morning, plan my day out
Whole new blueprint, brand new layout
Deep down still don’t know if it’ll play out
Before the first time, feel like I done found a way out
Skin getting clearer and it feel like I lost weight
Stop and say a prayer for the times I lost faith
Troubles of the world had me in a cross-face
Chicken-wing, sickening, liver so off-base
But now it’s like I’m in the last lap of the car chase
And I finally understand my right to choose
My preacher man told me it could always be worse
Even the three-legged dog still got three good legs to lose
So you can stop and refresh the rules
Breathe in, breathe out, let it heal all your exit wounds
Something inside said that’s the move
And maybe today, I’ll restart fresh and new

[Chorus: Patty Cash]
When I wake up, I look into the mirror
I can see a clearer, vision
I should start living today
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day
Cause today is gonna be the day, is gonna be the day

Music for the Soul: A Production team

I can very faintly remember a conversation I had with this talented brother, freshman year of college, and one thing I remember him making known is his love and passion for music. Since then, he had furthered his love for music with his Indie-Soul music production team that specializes in the fields of songwriting, production, engineering, composition, and film-scoring. It consists of Producers, Singers/Songwriters, Musicians, and engineers that work in any genre of music creating songs for artists.
The Founder of this production team and the mysterious convo guy: Brandon Lee Richardson (whom by the way I had no clue had went through with starting the production team!)
Brandon attended Five Towns College where he produced and co-wrote a song that ended up winning the "Five College Final Stage" competition. From that point forward,he decided to take it a step further by putting together a Production/Songwriting super group to make music that comes straight from the soul.
Every song created by Indie-Soul is based off true
stories and events and they will continue to create songs in hopes
that the listeners can relate.
Now who can disagree with that?

Support Music, support Life.

The Gold Rush

Remember Euro P. Gold, a talented artist with a love for Hip Hop? Well he's back again with more awesome music to listen to!
Listening to a few of the songs off The Gold Rush just further brought back that vibe that I love in Hip Hop. His music brings you back to what Hip Hop is about, the core of Hip Hop...the fundamentals.
With good vibes and great lyrical content I can honestly say this is something many of you guys should tune into and spread the word!
My two favorite songs "Quiet" and
"OrangeAirways" you must listen to!
Euro P. Gold is taking his passion and talent for music and making the very bold move of turning this into his career.

And Today is a Beautiful Day

"Today, nobody cares
But tomorrow they will, they will
Today, nobody cares
But, oh, tomorrow they will, they will

They said my future was dark
You see me now?
Just look around
I’m beamin’

I get my energy from my inner G
I be in outer space, but I got inner peace
So tell my enemies that they can’t injure me
I know that irritates, you have my sympathies
Well, you should protest, yeah, you should picket me
I’m on a losing strike, I’m on a winning streak
I’m out in left field, I’m speaking mentally
But that’s a better places than where the benches be
I’m feelin’ really good, me and different beat
Me and my different drummer, he play the timpanis
See, that’s what got me here, you hearin’ me
Me on my black man in the future shit, call me Billy Dee
See, I’m just forward-looking, that’s how I really see
See, while you Valentimes, I’m thinking Christmas trees
And that’s how this would be, even at Mickey D’s
Semicolon, close parentheses

They said my future was dark
You see me now?
Just look around
I’m beamin’

They used to talk
When I wasn’t around
You see me now
I’m beamin’"-Lupe Fiasco

Peace sign UP.

"Onto the Next One" Jay-Z Video

So Jay-Z brings to us one of his newest pieces of visual art from his latest album The Blueprint 3. After watching this video...I was just left blank. In fact, perhaps I was also a bit creeped out but oddly enough I LOVE it. Or maybe I shouldn't love it because I really cant understand what this man is trying to portray. I feel like Hov was trying to show a whole bunch of symbols. I have no clue. You see for yourself.

Lady Gaga Presents The Fame: Monster

I personally am excited to see some new stuff from this crazy, absurd, creative and talented lady. Lady Gaga will release The Fame Monster in the United States on November 23rd. There will be eight fresh new tracks from producers such as Rodney Jerkins and RedOne who produced the lead single "Bad Romance." So why call it Monster? While in an interview with MTV, Lady GaGa explains":
"While traveling the world for two years, I've encountered several monsters, each represented by a different song on the new record: my 'Fear of Sex Monster', my 'Fear of Alcohol Monster', my 'Fear of Love Monster', my 'Fear of Death Monster', my 'Fear of Loneliness Monster'...etc.."
hmmmmmm....interesting. I guess you can say we have all had those fears at some point.
Touche Gaga...

The Blueprint 3

I may also be late on this post, it may be well overdue...but being an advid listener of HOV, let me just say that I am proud of his latest album The Blueprint 3. YESSS! He has put New York back on the map. He has brought that New York vibe back that I love sooo much in this album. "Empire State of Mind", "So Ambitious" reminded me of the New York that I love and was born and raised in.
Fortunately, I'm not the only one loving it. The Blueprint 3 (HOV's 11th album) made #1 album on the The Billboard 200 which succeeded him past Elvis Presley as the solo act with the most #1 albums in the charts history.

Whatever Happened to......

Fefe Dobson????? Now I'm an absolute lover of unique and out-of-the-box artists....who I dont mind watching on television. Fefe was one of those girls. She was new and fresh....a woman of color who I thought would redefine our image of what the "pop girl" was suppose to look like. Here was a girl who wasnt singing r&b...instead her debut album had "The Beatles" kind of influence. I would like to see her come back with something strong.

Presenting....EarthGang

Upon first hearing about EarthGang, I had never heard of their music. After doing some research on these men, I can say that I was more than presently surprised. When asking a few people about them, the common response was "They are DOPE!" After listening to some of their music, I can honestly say the same thing. These two young men from Atlanta, Georgia are definitely worth the blog post. Let's continue shall we?

EarthGang consists of two young men by the names of Johnny Venus and E. Hobbes who currently attend Hampton University. How did they form this awesome duo? In the words of J. Venus: "We went to the same high school and decided to create the Music Group EarthGang and under the shade tree out side of the school's complex. I think our styles contrastically compliment each other and our musical taste, which is all over the world from Duke Ellington to The Clash helps us stay well rounded. We're not your typical rap group or your "rap" group for that matter. We want our music to transcend genres, culture, and time. Alot of fellow artists we come into contact with can be very narrow sighted. Like their ambitions are to only take over the "rap" game or the U.S. We plan to effect the world not only through music but through film, art, literature; the whole nine." Not your typical "rap" group? Not in the least! Influenced by artists such as Prince, 3-6 Mafia, Queen, Wolfmother, UGK, Chicago, Gill Scott Heron, The Fugees and The Beatles (which are just to name a few), EarthGang brings the music world a refreshing and unique sound that I truly can say I am a witness to. When I first heard their song "EG Rock" I was happy to hear a different sound than the usual "Rap" flavor thats consistently being packaged and shown in the media everyday.

Why am I supporting EarthGang? The music industry is in dire need of talented and unique individuals with vision, and that is EarthGang. It is ashame when unique artists with a brave, new sound get swept under the rug for not conforming to the norms of the music industry. For these reasons I support EarthGang. They bring the music game the full package. Not to mention, I support the fellow goal oriented, African American man. There is probably alot more I could say, but I'm going to let their music speak for themselves. My personal fave..."Ms Evette" =]

To listen to some of the refreshing taste of EarthGang's music, visit their myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/earthgangheadbangtheory or simply click on the picture above. To download their song "EG Rock" click on this link: http://www.divshare.com/download/7446775-45b and to download their song "Ms. Evette" click on this link: http://www.divshare.com/download/7242854-628. That Paparazzi Kind of Loveeeeee

They say, that love can drive you crazy. Love can drive a person to do crazy things. Love can quite possibly one of the most common psychological problems that go untreated. If that makes sense. (Anyway I Love this video..I LOVE LADY GAGA and her style. Anybody who loves me, knows to buy me some Lady Gaga posters or something).
Peace & Gaga,
Lolita

Who is Euro P. Gold?

Euro P. Gold (William M. Drayton III) is a fellow college student from Hampton University who has found his passion in music and wishes for nothing more than express his creativity to the world by giving them something called "Mood Music". Where exactly did his idea of "Mood Music"come from? At the age of 15, Euro was reading an Article in “Scratch” magazine and was attracted to what one person (Kyambo “Hop-Hop” Joshua) said concerning "Mood Music": “It’s the kind of music that causes you to get out of your seat and walk towards the speakers. That’s what I want to achieve every time my music is heard.” Hence "Mood Music" the kind of music Euro wishes to supply his fellow music fiends with.

"I’m from Pa, right outside of Philly, so I’m addicted to that soul sound. I grew up on Gamble And Huff and Luther Vandross. In fact my mother ain't even let me listen to Rap growing up. I used to sneak tapes in my room and groove to them. I remember getting a beating in second grade for listing to In My Lifetime by Jay-Z” All of these incident and artists I grew up on get diffused throughout my music."-Euro P. Gold----

So fellow bloggers and readers, why Euro P. Gold? Well, its quite simple. I believe I find a slight inspiration in those who have found their true passion in life or a creative outlet that is their own form of objective truth. I have a slight admiration for those who are motivated and have aspirations all their own. As Euro said: "Low-key I’m addicted to this rap shit. Everyone has a vice, mines just happens to involve me expressing myself through prose and rhyme scheme. I'm just trying to be different from the masses. So many people try to be different now it’s starting to become a fad so I'm just finna be myself because that's naturally different from the masses." Why Euro P. Gold you ask? Well, music has a special place in my heart, and if this is a person trying to put that "feel" back in hip-hop that we've been missing, then Im going to support. Also, I have no problem supporting the fellow black man.

And hey, whaddyaknowww...Euro is a fellow blogger as well. You can check out his collective ideas, thoughts and inspiration just by clicking on the picture above.

Lykke Li

Lykke Li. Her music and style of creativity has captured me for some time now. I have been hearing her music around, and figured it was time to put this young lady on my blog. You may have heard different mixes to her song "Little Bit". In fact, up and coming music artist Drake did a mix on her song Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson was born on March 18, 1986. This swedish indie pop singer released her debut album called Youth Novels in 2008. Her album was released in the United States on 6 May 2008. When asked what inspired her to make this album, she responds in saying that it was her past relationships and life lessons that inspired her. She truly seems like an artistic individual. Hopefully we can all hear more from this talented individual.
